CMS Publishes Upcoming Schedules for MMSEA 111 Town Hall Teleconferences
The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) is hosting Teleconferences as follows: -August 24, 2011: NGHP Policy -September 21, 2011: NGHP Technical -October 19, 2011: NGHP Policy -GHP Teleconferences are scheduled and posted as well.

With the Medicare Secondary Payer Mandatory Reporting well underway as of January 1, 2011 for all Workers Compensation Insurance, it is important to note that all Liability Insurance (including Self Insurance) RRE's will need to begin preparing now for their reporting based upon a predetermined schedule with the COBC. Beginning January 1, 2012, these entities will be required to submit their Section 111 production Claim Input Files or face possible penalties and or fines! Washington DC Takes A Serious Look at the Medicare Secondary Payer Process
As some of you may have heard, on July 22, 2011 the Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations drafted a letter to Secretary Sebelius and Administrator Berwick advising the American People deserve an effective and efficient government and that we cannot accept collection procedures that come at an unreasonable cost to the taxpayer. It appears that the Subcommittee members may be seeing the value in a Medicare Secondary Payer (MSP) recovery threshold, as well as the urgency of striking a balance between the cost of the current recovery process and the stability of the Medicare fund.
